Time To Read
Itinerant Project for Primary Schools
In spite of their teachers’ efforts, many children reach the last grade of primary school not knowing how to read in English; they often speak and understand in English but get stuck in front of the written text, being unable to connect the written word with the corresponding sound.
Phonics is a method for teaching children how to read and write by linking sounds of the spoken language (phonemes) and the symbols that represent them, that is the letters or groups of letters or syllables of the written language (graphemes, or letter groups). Phonics is the learning-to-read method used in primary schools in the UK and many other countries today.
Even some teachers do not master this method and fail helping their pupils overcome difficulties in reading: this project offers a package of four lessons to children and their teachers, made by a master specialized in the Phonics method, preceded by a meeting with a demonstration lesson; after the meeting, the school will adhere to the project by affiliating to AICP and paying for the next four lessons, of which the dates will be arranged.
